OverviewThe Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL’s purpose is to inspire, inform and empower people to stop wild animals from going extinct. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action. Role ProfileZSL has an exciting opportunity for an experienced law enforcement professional with an interest in wildlife law enforcement and countering illegal wildlife trafficking. The role will sit within ZSL’s Africa Conservation Programme. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager - Africa, this senior position will oversee ZSL’s law enforcement and counter-trafficking activities to combat the illegal wildlife trade in countries where ZSL operates, with a focus on Africa and the opportunity to expand the role into Asia.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Person SpecificationThis is senior level position which requires a high level of technical expertise in the field of law enforcement (e.g. intelligence gathering, information management, investigations and analysis, anti-corruption, anti-poaching, wildlife law), with a substantial professional interest in counter-trafficking and/or wildlife law enforcement.
