CIFOR, the Center for International Forestry Research, advances human wellbeing, environmental conservation, and equity by conducting research to inform policies and practices that affect forests in developing countries. CIFOR is looking for a Writer/Editor (Consultant)
Reporting to the Media Liaison and Outreach Manager, the writer/editor leads the development of content for CIFOR’s global publications and marketing strategy. The writer/editor works with the marketing team and CIFOR’s scientific staff to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of CIFOR’s overall investment in publications, both online and in print. A priority for the post will be to generate content for a new global forests and climate change website.
Key responsibilities/tasks:
- Write articles, online briefings, press releases, leaflets and other materials for a general audience based on CIFOR’s ongoing research into all aspects of climate change and forestry for publication by CIFOR online or in print.
- In collaboration with CIFOR staff, generate ideas for articles and stories on climate change and forestry for publication online and elsewhere
- Contribute articles on forestry and climate change to public journals and websites
- Provide editing services as required to CIFOR staff.
- Contribute to the development of scripts or other audio visual materials for use by CIFOR and its partners.
- Contribute to the development of a worldwide community of learning and knowledge sharing on forestry and climate change
- Assist with other tasks relevant to CIFOR’s mission as advised by the ISG management team
Requirements:
- Degree in a related discipline.
- At least 5 years experience writing professionally.
- Proven ability to provide professional communication consultation.
- Ability to work well in team environments.
- Strong client service approach.
- Fluency in English. Other major languages an asset.
