Role Summary/Purpose: Function as the Engineering Lead to drive Wind Services productivity through development of: engineering inputs into full service agreement models to include physics based lifing models, new technology product offerings that add value to both GE and our customer and condition based monitoring tools for maintenance optimization. In this role, you will:
Essential Responsibilities - Interface with Product Service to obtain operational and warranty information on the installed fleet
- Collaborate with various engineering teams (i.e. Advanced Technology Organization, Renewable Engineering, Global Research Center (GRC), and Aviation Systems) to develop models and identify risks
- Leverage expertise, clear thinking, and imagination to drive accurate modeling and advanced technologies that increase productivity, reduce product cycle and cost, and drive engineering rigor to meet business needs
- Ensure all program deliverables are executed on time, on budget, and on cost with the highest level of quality
- Drive “no mistakes” engineering culture
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other technical Discipline
- Minimum of 5 years engineering experience

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

- Green Belt certified (GE employees only)
- Be willing to take a drug test & submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
- Possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States

Desired Characteristics - Knowledge of Wind systems / components
- Sound mechanical design fundamentals
- Solid understanding of general physics
- Experience in the development and design of mechanical motion and power transmission equipment (i.e. gears), rotating components (i.e. blades), or mechanical structures (i.e. towers) to drive improved performance, reliability, life and cost
- Experience in performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for determining dynamic stresses and vibrations
- Experience in evaluating and/or designing for loads and fluid dynamics
- Knowledge of probabilistic lifing methodologies and fracture mechanics
- Knowledge of composite materials / structures
- Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
- Strong written, oral presentation and communication skills
- Proven track record of being accountable and delivering results
- Self-starter, clear thinker, capable of identifying solutions to problems, driving them to resolution and making difficult decisions
