My client is an ambitious and entrepreneurial company involved in the construction of wind farms throughout Scotland, providing expert services to those wishing to develop or invest in the wind sector. They oversee the evaluation, development construction, operation and maintenance phases of the project, and are looking for an experienced Project Developer to join their team and be heavily involved in the entire process. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an ambitious and growing company within the wind space in a very focused hands-on position.

Position Overview:

My client is seeking an experienced project developer who is well versed in all aspects of wind farm development. This will include initial site inspection and inquiries, consultation and planning processes, relationship management with stakeholders, and budget management. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will coordinate and collaborate with both internal and external consultants and will be heavily involved in every aspect of the process. This is a very hands on, exciting role and is an opportunity to join an ambitious company at an earlier stage looking at rapid expansion throughout the UK and Europe.

 

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         Identify the viability for commercial wind projects
  • ·         Advise colleagues to develop internal expertise
  • ·         Prepare and deliver (at meetings or by e-mail) monthly progress reports for each project
  • ·         Carry out preliminary technical studies during the site assessment, environmental impact assessment, consenting and design phases of all projects
  • ·         Developing business relationships with relevant land owners, including full discussions of financial and legal ramifications   
  • ·         Use available software tools to analyse and carry out site surveys
  • ·         Take the lead on due-diligence mandates as well as environmental impact assessments, wind assessments and consenting/planning applications
  • ·         Write technical reports and, when needed, participate in the presentation of the results of technical studies
  • ·         Commission, organise and manage the work of planning and environmental sub-contractors
  • ·         Meet with clients to establish and understand their needs
  • ·         Strive to constantly maintain the competitive advantages of the company in terms of techniques, policy/legislation and technology

Education:-

  • ·         Must have a degree in either business or mechanical engineering

Core Requirements:-

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in wind
  • ·         Excellent understanding and knowledge of issues related to EIAs and consenting processes
  • ·         Ability to communicate across all levels of an organization
  • ·         In-depth understanding of the UK renewable energy market, including all legislation that affects wind development
  • ·         Ability to manage several complex projects concurrently while adhering to strict deadlines
  • ·         Excellent skills in managing and developing interpersonal relations
  • Knowledge of programming of wind assessments and energy yield calculations
  • Experience and involvement in all aspects of wind farm development
