RES Australia Pty Ltd (RES Australia) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the UK based RES Group.  The business is focused on developing, building and operating wind farm projects in Australia.  It is based in Sydney.  The business has a number of projects in development and a pipeline of potential site opportunities in Australia and New Zealand.

The role of Developer will be responsible for securing new wind farm sites and advancing projects to development approval stage.  You will manage feasibility studies and environmental assessments.  You will maintain relationships with key project stakeholders and be responsible for community consultation.  You will coordinate with RES' specialist personnel who will provide technical and commercial input into the wind farm developments.  Mostly this will involve working with the Sydney team and coordination with our NZ and UK based specialist personnel.  You will provide support to power purchase negotiations, financing negotiations, construction and all activities leading to the completion of the wind farm projects.  The role will report to RES Australia's Development Manager and you will work closely with the Sydney team.  You will possess good project management skills, strong communication skills and be a team player.  You will be able to manage projects to schedule and to budget.

Areas of Responsibility:

  • Securing new windfarm project opportunities through negotiation with landowners and stakeholders;
  • Managing the preparation of feasibility studies and Development Approval applications for wind farm and grid connection projects through to receiving approvals;
  • Managing specialist consultants and RES staff to prepare Development Approval applications;
  • Consulting with and managing relationships with a variety of external stakeholders including landowners, local residents and community groups, regulatory authorities, local and national government bodies, indigenous groups and network companies; and
  • Working closely with the RES team including communicating progress, identifying obstacles and design constraints, identifying resource requirements and participating in team based problem solving.

Personal Qualifications:

  • Experience in preparing for and obtaining Development Approvals;
  • Experience of the power sector, preferably in the wind energy industry;
  • Experience in project management or business management;
  • Tertiary qualification in planning, environmental sciences, business or related disciplines;
  • Strong communication skills; and
  • Proficient computing skills.

Salary Range:

Market based salary depending on experience.

Travel within Australia and New Zealand, sometimes to remote site locations will be required.
