Wildlife Field Technician

Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully integrated environmental consulting firm who is committed to sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship.  We are seeking a Wildlife Field Technician to assist with bird and bat carcass searches at an operational wind power project near Hobart, OK.

This is a temporary full -time position beginning in mid-April for a period of approximately 4 weeks to be followed by an additional 4 weeks starting in late-September. This position will report to our Kansas City office.

  Responsibilities:

• Walking established linear transects beneath operational turbines and looking for bird and bat carcasses on the ground
• Flagging observed carcasses
• Completing datasheets and a daily log of activities
• Attendance at daily safety meetings
• Following safety instructions and guidelines and wearing appropriate safety equipment

 Requirements:

• Related environmental experience or coursework desired but not required
• Attention to detail and ability to follow directions of a field team leader
• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team setting as well as a self-starting individual
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions and walk extensive miles daily 
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations near Hobart and Clinton, OK     (local candidates strongly preferred)
