Web Product Manager

Summary

Climate Advisers Trust —a respected research and public policy group dedicated to strengthening climate action in the United States and around the world—seeks a Web Product Manager to join our growing team.

The Web Product Manager will serve a critical role in the new Radical Transparency (RT) Partnership within Climate Advisers Trust by overseeing the development and long-term success of a new platform and related applications. Radical Transparency aims to provide unprecedented insights into how companies, financiers, and individuals are linked to deforestation and unsustainable land use and illuminate wrong-doing by these economic actors. Based on a ground-breaking database created by the RT Partnership, the platforms will surface compelling information on the linkages among companies and financiers using dynamic visualizations, interactive modules, and user-driven story case studies. The Product Manager will lead the strategy for the design, use, and delivery of the central global platform, in addition to custom applets for target audiences, likely within the Global South.

Responsibilities

Develop platform strategy

  • Conduct ongoing user engagement and user testing to determine design, functionality, and features
  • Establish delivery timeline to meet internal and external deadlines
  • Create platform work plan for team feedback and contribution
  • Craft overall strategy for creation, launch, and future of the platform

Manage and support platform vendors

  • Manage working relationships with website developers
  • Establish and monitor progress of scopes of work for website developers
  • Communicate overall RT Partnership strategy to website developers to inform development
  • Liaise with additional vendors as needed, such as translators and graphic designers

Manage overall delivery and success of the platforms

  • Serve as project manager of the platforms and related content
  • Work closely with communications staff to curate platform content
  • Solicit platform content from all involved participants
  • Conduct user analysis and data analytics to measure successes and failures of the platforms

Represent the platform and partnership publicly

  • Support raising the awareness of the RT Partnership by presenting the platforms at key meetings, international fora, and to network partners
  • Demo the beta platform(s) to interested parties, including representatives from government, the private sector, and civil society
  • Contribute to high-level presentations by the Partnership Director and other Climate Advisers staff

Qualifications

  • Three years of experience in product management, project management, strategic online communications, or a related field
  • Advanced proficiency in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects including vendor and partner management
  • Experience translating complex ideas to non-expert audiences
  • Skilled in user exploration, user testing, and qualitative research methods

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of agricultural supply chains
  • Understanding of graph databases and relationship mapping
  • Experience in data-driven online products
  • Understanding of corporate sustainability related to land use
  • Familiarity with innovative data visualization techniques
