My client is a leading solar power developer, providing clean energy to utilities and large energy users. They build, develop and finance large scale power plants and have a strong market presence in the USA.


Position Overview:
The Vice President of Utility Accounts will
directly be responsible for sales to the large utilities in California. The Vice President of Utility Accounts will be in charge of ensuring successes in the development and sales of major solar energy projects to the Western and Southwestern utilities, municipal and federal government accounts. They will handles the origination, proposal generation, negotiation, due diligence  and contract phases of the sales.  

Responsibilities:-

  • ·         Distribution of photovoltaic solar power plants and accessories
  • ·         Customer service for existent customers and acquisition of new customers
  • ·         Responsible for account development and management, educate utilities in new markets about utility-scale solar
  • ·         Form and manage new utility and developer relationships
  • ·         Develop and manage relationships with utilities, developers, and external services providers
  • ·         Conduct of sale negotiations in predetermined desired value and tender preparations
  • ·         Responsible for relationship management for all utility accounts  
  • ·         Lead business development activities in large-scale power plant sales
  • ·         Responsible for origination, proposals, negotiation, due diligence and contract phases
  • ·         Originate business directly
  • ·         Develop sales strategy, pipeline and provide regular in depth reporting
  • ·         Develop relationships with IPP's, EPC's, large developers and other channel partners to finance and build out projects
  • ·         Identify project opportunities with utilities
  • ·         Manage all aspects of project development, including site acquisition, interconnection studies, permitting, tax abatement, and structuring finance

Education:-

  • ·         Must have strong educational background (engineering, economics or business background)

Core Requirements:-

  • You will have at least 8-12 years of sales experiecne, with a track recording in driving sales
  • You will have at least 5 years renewabale energy sales experience,  with a track record in utilities account management
  • ·         Ability to work under deadline pressure and deliver high quality results
  • ·         Proven ability to communicate across all levels of an organization
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects
  • ·         Demonstrate in-depth sales and marketing techniques and financial principals

General Requirements:-

  • Ability to travel
  • ·         Proficient with making impactful presentations
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities
  • Ability to work independently but within tightly controlled business policies
  • Experience with facility design relating to power conversion products

Key Skills:-

  • Utility-Scale Solar experience, negotiations experience, sales experience and utilities account management experience
