The Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) is a project of the Green Cities Fund, Inc. (GCF), an international non-governmental organisation based in Oakland, California.VGBC functions solely to build up a green construction environment in Vietnam.
We aim to be the focal point for academia, government, and the private sector while defining green building metrics to drive market transformation.
We are looking for enthusiastic and competent volunteers to help us with the following areas:
- Web Development: Our web resources are always being improved. As such, if you have skills in the following areas, we would love to hear from you:
- Joomla 1.5 or 1.6 experience
- Java of flash experience
- Database management (mysql) experience
- LOTUS Research: Over the last year, we have made some significant steps in our general research on the LOTUS Rating Tools and their applicability to the Vietnamese environment. Areas within the Energy and Water fields which have been the traditional areas of interest are now less required. - LOTUS Certification: The LOTUS Certification team is involved in two main areas including:
- Creating submission templates for all LOTUS Tools
- Reviewing submissions from projects (pending relevant experience)
- Green Database: We are currently developing a hub of green products and services that could aid compliance with LOTUS. This position is suitable for an independent individual and is based in Ho Chi Minh City. If you have the following skills, we would love to hear from you:
- Knowledge of Green Product theory
- Background in green building rating tools
- Confidently independent with great communication skills
- Excellent English and preferably Vietnamese too
- Web authoring knowledge
- Marketing and Fundraising: We have a constant requirement for marketing and fundraising skills. To date, this has not been a major focus within the VGBC but it will be developed over the course of 2011. In terms of fundraising, we are hoping to develop fundraising strategies in many areas that we are working on as the opportunities are vast but our resources remain limited. Expected tasks for volunteers in our Marketing and Fundraising section are as below:
- Identify key projects that require fundraising
- Identify potential donors
- Prepare fundraising proposals for donors
- Policy and Economics: Research of economic and policy drivers for green buildings are imperative to the success of the VGBC objectives.
