This project is dedicated to caring for animals affected by the black market animal trade in the Amazon jungle of Peru. It is looking for volunteers to help with an animal rescue program and within a butterfly house.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work with unique Amazonian species such as capybara, ocelot, jaguar, and many species of primate. Volunteer tasks include feeding the monkeys, guiding tours, walking the ocelot, and making monkey toys.
This is a free volunteer program but volunteers need to cover their own living expenses. There is no on-site accommodation and volunteers can choose to stay with a local family or in a hostel, depending on preferences. Prices range from US$6-10 per day. The accommodation options are in a nearby village, a 5 minute walk away from the project.
Highly recommended project for people interested in wildlife rescue, animal welfare, butterfly breeding, the Amazon, and affordable volunteering abroad.
