Contract: Funded contract for 18 months, fixed term, full-time Salary: £25,000 to £28,400 dependent on experience Location: Home-based in the Bridlington area Closing date: Sunday 9 September 2018 Interviews: Thursday 20 September 2018 (in London) The Marine Conservation Society is the UK’s leading charity for the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife. MCS is the voice for the sea, for all the fascinating creatures that live beneath the waves, for our breath-taking coastal environment, for all those who make a sustainable living from the sea and for everyone who simply enjoys visiting the beach and our glorious coastline. We want to ensure our voice is heard and we have ambitious plans to grow substantially over the coming years. We are now looking for a Volunteer & Community Engagement Manager to provide a focus on Bridlington but also on the wider region and coastline. You will be the public face of MCS in the Bridlington area delivering a programme of outreach events and activities that engage different audiences, from corporate groups to school children, to raise awareness about the importance of marine life and inspire individual action to protect our seas. You will lead volunteers and the public alike in beach clean events, litter surveys, marine species surveys and wider citizen science engagement activities and campaigns. Forming part of our team of regional VCE Managers, you'll play an important part in developing our network of volunteer Sea Champions and your role will be to engage them to act as our local ambassadors, providing vital support for us to promote our campaigns, conservation work, increasing our membership-base and fundraising initiatives, encouraging active participation in protecting – and enjoying – our seas, shores and wildlife. You will have the autonomy and opportunity to demonstrate your strong organisational skills when delivering events and will be comfortable delivering information/training sessions to a variety of audiences. You will be able to develop resources that inspire audiences to engage with our messages both online and face-to-face at events. A committed interest in communicating marine conservation will enthuse and motivate people to support our aims. Key Skills
