The Vocational Internship Program – Climate Change and Renewable Energy offers the opportunity for students to join us for a 3 or 6 month comprehensive program that provides in-depth professional learning and development across several areas including climate action and renewable energy. Upon completion of the 3 month or 6 month unpaid internship program, a successful and high-performing Intern may be offered the opportunity to join South Pole in a permanent position.
In close cooperation with the Key Account Managers in Australia, you will quickly familiarise yourself with the Australia climate mitigation context and initiative for domestic emission reductions, which will enable you to play a key role in the successful development and implementation of emissions reduction projects and partnerships. In addition, you will be working directly with corporate clients supporting them with designing and implementing their climate action strategy and activities. Lastly, you will collaborate with other colleagues in further project development and other activities in the areas of climate change mitigation and adaptation including fields such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, forestry and land use, waste handling, circularity and sustainable cities.
Tasks and responsibilities
Work closely with the Key Account Management, Portfolio Management and the Public Sector teams to research potential new Climate Action opportunities
Understand client needs, gather market intelligence and identify industry trends
Coordinate the research process in terms of content and timeline
Support expanding South Pole's presence in the Australian market by actively participating in meetings with corporate clients
Liaise with potential clients following a structured approach
Support the research team by working on topics concerning Climate Action
Support Key Account Managers in carrying out background research and producing documents, briefing papers, reports, and presentations in topics such as climate neutrality, carbon offsets, renewable energy solutions and other environmental certificates
Other tasks and responsibilities in support of Key Account Managers as required
Your Profile
Passionate about climate change
Students in relevant areas such as Energy, Climate, Environment, Finance or similar study from universities with vocational placements
General knowledge of carbon finance and emission reduction project development cycle
Familiarity with various carbon standards is a plus
Intermediate to Advanced skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite
Good communication skills and excellent oral and written command of English
