Description

About Us:

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a charity founded in 1826, is a world-renowned centre of excellence for conservation science and applied conservation. ZSL’s mission is to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. This is realised by carrying out field conservation and research in over 50 countries across the globe and through education and awareness-raising at our two zoos, ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, inspiring people to take conservation action.

Overview of role:

ZSL is looking for a Projects Coordinator to support the delivery of the UK & Europe Conservation Programme by providing administrative support.  The UK & Europe Conservation Programme comprises a diverse range of projects from Citizen Science projects on the River Thames to angel sharks in the Canary Islands. The post-holder will support staff delivering these and other projects and will be instrumental in the growth of the Programme. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, financial administration, completion of records in the ZSL Projects Database, contributions to reports and contributions to development of funding proposals.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience in coordinating conservation or development projects particularly experience in managing budgets.
  • Superb organisation skills, effective at communicating and enjoy being at the centre of a team.
  • Well-developed skills in using MS office packages, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Whilst not a technical role, this role would suit a person with an interest and knowledge of conservation.

Please Note: This is a grant-funded position and is available on a 12 months fixed term contract. It will be based at ZSL’s offices in London and will require the successful applicant to have a full UK driving licence as there will be some requirements for field work.

To Apply:

Applicants should send their completed Equality of Opportunity Monitoring Form, ZSL Application Form detailing relevant experience and skills and stating why they want the position, by email to ZSL’s HR Department (hr@zsl.org). We regret that we will only be able to contact applicants who have been selected for interview.

Closing Date: Midnight Sunday 31st May 2015

We expect to interview successful applicants week commencing 8th June 2015.
