Description

Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study, and visit. Because we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Come and join us as a Tree Officer, where you will make a real difference to the urban forest environment at Camden.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced arboricultural professional to join an internationally recognised tree service.  You will assist the tree manager in the management of Council owned trees whilst delivering the Service Level Agreements for the maintenance and inspection of the Council’s tree stock.  You will be responsible for carrying out risk management and giving specialist advice across the Council and external stakeholders.

You must be willing to undertake a wide range of duties that are not directly related to the technical area of arboriculture such as: financial management, general administration, database interrogation and information retrieval, manipulation of large amounts of data within Excel, recharging for services, contract management and producing financial reports.

About you
The successful post holder will have strong experience of working in urban areas, ideally in carrying out tree inspections, surveys, diagnosis of tree defects/diseases and specifying remedial works. You’ll have good working knowledge of tree legislation and using tree decay detection equipment.

You will have good communication skills and be able to engage and understand the perspectives of a range of stakeholders (both within the Council and Camden’s wider communities) which feed into the delivery of liveable places. You will have the ability to physically carry out work in relation to the emergency call out system and respond in a calm and systematic way to urgent or emergency situations.

We are keen to help team members develop and are looking for a positive individual with personal drive and initiative who wants to learn and improve to join our team.
