The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation is Australia's national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse research agencies in the world.
Reporting to the Director of the Energy Transformed Flagship your primary purpose is to :-
Provide expert strategic and tactical advice and assistance to the Flagship Director to ensure delivery of the Theme’s objectives:
“To develop innovations in vehicle technologies and mobile energy storage systems that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector by 37% to 2020, 60% by 2030 and 80% by 2040 and alternative fuel strategies that fulfil the need for increased fuel security and reduce emissions during the twenty years it will take until low emission vehicles to occupy a dominant share of the market”.
Develop partners and generate industry support from the transport fuels and automotive industries as well as government to integrate the research outcomes with business opportunities to create impact and grow revenue sources.
As a member of the Flagship Leadership group, you will also contribute to the overall Flagship direction and performance.
Specific responsibilities for this role include supporting the Flagship Director to:
Maximise the impact and relevance of the Low Emissions Transport Theme.
Manage Customer relationships with the Automotive industries and Transport Fuels sectors, this includes liquid fuels derived from coal, gas and biomass feed stocks.
Be diligent in understanding, identifying and coordinating other related, competing and synergistic activities within CSIRO, within Australia and globally to ensure the relevance and impact of CSIRO’s investment.
Develop and implement an integrated research and business development & commercialisation strategy for the Theme – transport fuels, automotive technologies and energy storage devices.
Gauge market opportunities - undertake or commission necessary market/industry/company specific research.
Actively manage the Theme’s Intellectual Property.
Play a leading role in the development and assessment of project proposals for inclusion in the Theme portfolio.
Develop, with participating Divisions and the Energy Transformed Flagship program, plans that include technical and BD&C milestones for all projects within the Theme.
Ensure alignment between science being pursued and industry needs.
Identify gaps/opportunities in the science portfolio, options to address them and make recommendations to the Flagship Director.
