Description

The Institute of Zoology at ZSL is looking for 2 Research Interns to work on a collaborative project to develop the Living Planet Index with WWF. The Living Planet Index (LPI) is a global biodiversity indicator based on population trends of vertebrate species. The LPI is used both as a communication tool to illustrate temporal trends in vertebrates at different scales and also as a repository for time series data providing a broad scope for population analysis.

The positions will involve collecting and entering population time series data into the LPI database and using mapping and statistical techniques to analyse patterns in population trends. The role will also include updating the website with latest news and results and there will also be opportunities to contribute to a research publication.

Candidates must have an undergraduate degree or above in biology, zoology, ecology, conservation biology or a related subject. They should be IT proficient (preferably with database experience) and should have exceptional attention to detail, along with strong research and analytical skills.

These positions are full-time voluntary positions for six months based in London; ZSL will reimburse lunches, and travel costs from within the Greater London area. Please send a covering letter outlining your interest and suitability for the role, and your CV to Louise McRae(louise.mcrae@ioz.ac.uk) by 28th November

You will be contacted by the 2nd December if you have been selected for an interview. Interviews will be held on the 12th and 13th December with a due start date of 4th January 2012.
