Description

Do you have a self-motivated approach to troubleshooting, and do you assume job responsibility? Join us and be inspired by responsibility rather than by rules.

We aspire to be among the leading companies in Europe in terms of energy know-how and converting this know-how into enduring solutions to meet society's energy needs.

For the Walney Offshore Wind Farm we are seeking electrical and mechanical technicians to join our O&M team based in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

Responsibilities and tasks
You will perform work inside offshore turbines and on our onshore and offshore substations, including troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical components.

Furthermore, your tasks are to

  • perform offshore wind turbine service
  • perform HV service and troubleshooting
  • repair mechanical structures
  • plan service and maintenance works together with our technical team
  • work and act as an AP.

Your profile
You are well experienced in troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components. We offer you on-the-job training as well as courses in offshore wind farm technology.

An apprenticeship with City & Guilds and a complete electrical or mechanical certificate are essential. A BTEC ONC in electrical or mechanical engineering would be advantageous, but not essential.

It is important that you are willing to work in a team and are prepared to enter into a rota system.

The role is shift based, and your working hours will therefore vary. Furthermore, you must be prepared to enter into a scheduled training programme lasting approximately one year. The training programme includes stays on other DONG Energy offshore wind farms both in the UK and Denmark, and you will participate in construction projects both onsite and on other locations in the UK and Europe. An aptitude for working at height and offshore is essential.

We offer
You will be employed with a dynamic department, which focuses on professional sparring, and where social conventions are quite informal. Furthermore, we are working in teams where your ideas will count. Due to the growth of DONG Energy there will be opportunities to work on other DONG Energy wind farms both in the UK and DK as well as in other North European countries.

Our value-based organisation focuses on fast decision-making processes, and we offer substantial freedom with responsibility and good opportunities to develop new competences.

We have an active employee policy, which supports your career throughout the various phases of your working life.

Contact us
You are welcome to contact Operations Manager Lars Albèr on telephone +44 (0) 77 96 4214 01 or +45 99 55 24 69 or Technical Manager Steen Carsten Larsen on telephone +45 99 55 24 51 if you have further questions. For additional information on the offshore wind farm, see www.dongenergy.com.

Closing date for applications: 19 July 2009.
