Salary: Circa USD 33,000 per annum Start Date: As soon as possible Contract Type: Fixed-term until 31 January 2020, with potential to extend subject to need and funding availability Location: FFI field base in Sapo National Park, Liberia, with travel to the country programme office in Monrovia and occasional travel to other Liberia programme sites as required. FFI is seeking a Technical Specialist, Protected Area Management, to oversee the implementation of FFI’s approach to site protection in the Sapo Landscape. The programme’s key objectives are to:
This role will be responsible for strengthening stakeholder capacity in forest and biodiversity protection and for supporting the effective management of SNP and surrounding forests through the implementation of the newly revised SNP Management Plan. The SNP Management Plan objectives are based on a well-defined and collaboratively developed community-based natural resource management approach. We are looking for an individual who has a strong capacity building background, who is experienced in conservation and protected area management, solution-focused and ideally with experience in implementing collaborative and integrated approaches to park management in Africa. This role is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to drive effective and collaborative biodiversity protection in this critically important forest landscape.
