Role Summary/Purpose: The Engineer will be a Global Technical Leader for Rotating Parts pitch and yaw bearings including grease and seal expertise. The TL will lead a team of approx. 6-14 design engineers who are responsible for the support of the product throughout the entire life cycle from initial preliminary design through design and development, testing, manufacturing and field support. They will drive technical excellence in the design of each component under their responsibility for new and existing products.
Essential Responsibilities

The position will report to the Manager, Wind Rotating Parts. In this role, you will:

 

- Drive reliability, RCA closure and quick issue resolution on Drivetrain parts in the field and manufacturing chain
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
- Meet New Product introduction (NPI) and Direct Material Productivity (DMP) objectives
- Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
- Demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment
- Hold ownership of design related documents like design practices, assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), etc.
- Responsible for design, development and testing (working with internal and external test and validation resources) to prove out component functional and reliability
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Integrate and develop global process to efficiently get the parts inspected by quality teams and route repair issues to component owners.
- Drive resolution of issues arising during design and development
Qualifications/Requirements: - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years of experiences in bearings, rotating parts, Structural parts or similar types of components design and manufacture
- Minimum of 1 years experience with new product development

Desired Characteristics - Familiar with calculation programs like Kisssoft, SRAT, ANSYS or similar tools
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions. Strong desire and ability to drive improvement and change
- Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Material Engineering
- Basic knowledge of wind turbine design, assembly and manufacture
- Minimum of 3 years wind experience
- Knowledge of 3D-CAD tools like Unigraphics (UG)
- GE Business tools and practices expertise
- Willingness to travel
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (GE Employees only)
- Solid background in mechanical design engineering and finite element analysis (ANSYS)
- Technical drawing and design interpretation background
