Description

Provide technical lead to a team of consultants, delivering high profile projects, generating new business and developing excellent client relationships.  To play a key role in further developing ERM's Risk Business and enhancing our reputation as a leading global provider of technical risk and safety services.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Provide technical leadership and line management to a team of Risk & Safety consultants
  • Manage and provice technical lead for high profile Risk & Safety projects in the Oil & Gas sector (experience of other sectors such as chemical or mining would be advantageous)
  • Establish and develop long-term senior level relationships with clients in order to identify new opportunities and generate further business
  • Prepare proposals offering an in-depth understanding of clients needs and values and proposing effective solutions to ensure ERM has the best chance of success
  • Directs projects, selecting the best team, effectively negotiating objectives, deliverables and contractual arrangements and ensuring project profitability in order to ensure projects are delivered to agreed specification, on time and within budget
  • To provide advice to ERM clients within the Oil & Gas industry (and other sectors such as chemical or mining) on the latest developments in Safety and Risk Assessment
  • Contribute to the overall development of ERM's Risk & Safety business, working with the team Partners to generate ideas for new services and ways to improve existing ones in order for ERM to grow as a business
  • Raise ERM's profile in Risk & Safety by presenting papers at key international conferences and participate in supporting the development of ERM's global Risk Practise

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • A degree (2.1 or higher), and preferably a Masters or similar, in Chemical Engineering or other science or engineering degree relevant to technical Risk and Safety assessment for major hazard industries
  • Strong knowledge of Oil & Gas sector (preferably including LNG), and additionally knowledge of other areas such as mining, chemical and process industries
  • Knowledge of Risk and Safety Assessment techniques in relation to international standards and familiarity with latest UK regulatory developments relevant to major hazard industries
  • Ability to advice clients on key Risk & Safety issues relating to the Oil & Gas sector
  • Excellent relationship building skills with strong influencing and collaborative working skills
  • Entrepreneurial thinking with the ability to identify opportunities to extend own practice and looking for ways to grow the business and leverage opportunities
  • Excellent communication skills - including oral, written, and presentation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstratable recent consultany experience of working at a senior level on Oil & Gas sector risk and safety assessment projects, gained through direct dealings with major oil and gas operators either in the UK or internationally
  • Proven and impressive track record of developing excellent client relationships and of winning new business
  • Solid experience in the delivery of a range of Risk and Safety Assessment projects in the Oil & Gas sector including HSE Cases, COMAH cases, QRA, Land-Use planning assessments, HSE Management Systems, etc
  • Experience of managing complex projects within the consultancy setting, ideally as a Project Director or similar
  • Experience of leading, coaching and developing a team
  • Experience in the international mining or petrochemical sectors an advantage
  • Experience of assessments at concept, FEED and operational stages an advantage

Travel to other UK offices and overseas locations as required
