East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work, delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Planning Team as the Suffolk Coast RAMS Delivery Manager, working on behalf of East Suffolk Council, Ipswich Borough Council, Babergh District Council and Mid Suffolk District Council.

The Suffolk Coast RAMS (Recreational Disturbance Avoidance Mitigation Strategy) partnership are looking for an experienced people person, who can identify and deliver mitigation projects, including day to day input into ranger tasks and collaboration with groups across the project area.

If you are passionate about wildlife and habitats in Suffolk, want to work near the coast and are willing to travel the length of Suffolk for your work, we may have a position for you.

The Delivery Manager will be working with local groups and organisations (stakeholders) to deliver appropriate and effective mitigation across the Suffolk Coast RAMS project area, which focuses on Habitats Sites, within the Suffolk Coast Impact Risk Zone, and includes heathlands, estuaries and forested sites.

You will:

  • lead a team engaging with visitors at Habitat Sites (protected areas) and interpreting wildlife and habitat, with a focus on wading birds, and the importance of these species and sites.
  • strategize how to guide visitor behaviour and build positive interactions with a variety of recreational users of these areas.
  • be personable, have great communication and collaboration skills, and want to interact with people on a day-to-day basis, building long term visitor behaviours, and leading your team to be the boots on the ground.
  • be the primary contact for the Executive Group, which will include developing, reporting and monitoring mitigation measures and ensuring mitigation is suitable, relevant and completed in a timely manner.
  • collaborate closely with the Suffolk Coasts and Heaths AONB, to ensure rangers are being effective and providing the right support for site visits and educational visits.

Your role will be a mix of office and outdoor time, and you will be managing staff members who will be out on site interacting with visitors every day.

Strong organisational, project and budget management, collaboration and communication skills are required.

If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this role, even if you don’t meet all of the essential requirements, please apply.

We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.
