We’re looking for motivated and energetic 2nd and 3rd year Geology, Earth Science, Soil Science or Geo-Engineering students to assist our Calgary and Saskatoon offices with the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites for the 2010 Summer Term (May-August).  Our Calgary and Saskatoon offices have a solid client base built on a reputation for technically superior work with some of our client’s more technically challenging and involved sites.

Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:

As a successful candidate, you will work closely with members of the Contaminated Sites Group on a variety of projects through: 

·         &n bsp;      Assisting with contaminated site assessment and remediation projects;

·         &n bsp;      Assisting with Phase I & II site assessments (including drilling investigations and monitoring well installation);

·         &n bsp;      Conducting routine soil and/or groundwater monitoring and/or reclamation programs;

·         &n bsp;      Assisting with remedial programs (e.g. excavations, soil bio-treatment, groundwater treatment operations); and

·         &n bsp;      Assisting more senior staff in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, data QA/QC, and adherence to prescribed methods/criteria.

Much of the project work is based in rural areas of Western Canada and will involve field work for extended periods. 
 
Requirements
Qualifications:

·         &n bsp;      Either 2nd or 3rd year student enrolled in a 4 year Bachelor of Science program; 

·         &n bsp;      Field of study includes: Geology, Earth Science, Soil Science or Geo-Engineering;

·         &n bsp;      Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and to proactively respond to time-sensitive issues;

·         &n bsp;      Advanced computer and technical writing skills; and

·         &n bsp;      Valid driver’s license is required as the position may involve some travel throughout the province.
