Description
World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Sr. Program Officer to plan, manage, coordinate, and communicate priorities and activities of WWF’s Rights and Livelihoods program. The SPO will work with the program Director to promote and support conservation approaches that respect and contribute to the rights and livelihoods of indigenous peoples and local communities by providing expert advice to other WWF programs and partners on these issues. This person will provide direct technical support to priority WWF initiatives and projects, with a particular focus on social dimensions of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+) and support the field programs in the Congo Basin and Amazon regions. The SPO will manage partnerships, communication, and fundraising activities to support program goals.

An advanced degree in the Social Sciences, International Development, Environmental/Conservation Policy or related field is required. A minimum of six years of experience working on social issues in an international environment, natural resource management and/or development is also required. A bachelor’s degree with exceptional equivalent experience may be considered. International field experience and fluency in Spanish and/or French are strongly preferred.
