As the Sr. Director of Product Management, New Markets at Opower, you will drive the product strategy, prototyping, and development of products that will extend and diversify Opower's reach. You will create and deliver against a product roadmap that will drive efficiency, retention, customer satisfaction, and other metrics for utility partners worldwide. This role will focus on putting in optimizing the Opower product to meet the diverse demands of competitive international utilities, commercial energy customers, and underserved markets/consumers. You will staff a small team of excellent product managers to execute against your product roadmap and be responsible for successful results throughout the entire product development lifecycle. This is an ideal job for a veteran product management leader with 10-15 years of experience motivated to continue to a string of career product successes and is eager to work hard at achieving a dramatic success in a vibrant and dynamic market. This position reports to the Vice President of Product Management and User Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the vision and roadmap for serving new markets in the energy efficiency ecosystem. Determine key initiatives. Make critical allocation decisions.
  • Maintain a single cohesive SaaS platform while establishing new sources of revenue with differing market requirements.
  • Lead a team of product managers to success. Make hiring decisions, manage performance, provide coaching and mentoring.
  • Define and measure product success, benchmark against the competition. Assume accountability for business results while delegating decision-making authority to individual PMs.
  • Understand user pain points, translate them to broad product solutions, phase solutions to deliver incremental business value. Elegantly deal with resource and time limitations.
  • Act as a mentor across the product management team and the company. Proactively identify root issues and address them with little or no oversight.
  • Represent Opower to high-profile executives inside and outside Opower. Attend strategic client and partner presentations. Present in larger public forums, etc.

About You

  • 10-15 years of experience in software product management. Track record of high-profile successes and internationally renown technology companies. Experience with Agile product development a plus.
  • Experience having delivered consumer-facing SaaS products that were successful across multiple markets. Experience managing internationalization efforts, identifying and expanding to adjacent markets.
  • Experience growing a team of highly skilled product managers and leading them toward collective success. Comfortable and confident manager.
  • Fantastic analytical skills, ability to solve problems quickly, establish new frameworks, ability to think on your feet, and see synergies before others. Ability to generalize problems and solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills across all audiences and media. Gravitas in social settings (minus the stuffiness). Exhibit both confidence and humility.
  • Willingness and availability to travel 10-15%. Ability to provide spikes of productivity when necessary.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree required, top tier university required, MBA preferred.
