An opportunity has arisen to join Natural Resources Wales Protected Species Team in South Wales. The team is looking for enthusiastic individuals with relevant experience in this area.

  • Location: Operations South Offices with a preference for Rivers House, St Mellons or Maes Newydd, Llandarcy.

Job Purpose:

  • My job is to help and sustain the natural heritage of Wales. I will do this by contributing to the delivery of NRW’s responsibilities and duties for protected species.

Job Specific Criteria

Essential criteria

  1. A degree or equivalent in a relevant environmental subject or relevant work experience.
  2. Knowledge of the ecology and conservation of, and approaches to mitigation suitable for the range of species protected by wildlife legislation and a working knowledge of relevant legislation and its application
  3. Good written and spoken communication and presentational skills, with the ability to write clearly for a wide range of target audiences.
  4. The ability to negotiate and work with a wide range of people, including landowners, partner organisations and the public.
  5. Show initiative and be enterprising but also demonstrate the ability to work effectively in team/ collaborative situations.
  6. The ability to currently and legally drive a car in the UK.
