Specialist Grid Connections Engineer, UK

My client is a leading offshore wind energy developer, providing clean energy to utilities and large energy users. They build, develop, finance and operate large scale power plants and have a strong market presence across Europe.

Position Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for all technical aspects on for the grid  connections in the UK and Ireland. The position can be based in Larne, Glasgow, Rugby, Kings Langley or Gateshead.

Responsibilities:-

• ·         Establish the available grid options during the initial development stage
• ·         Prepare preliminary design for the connection of the wind farm to the power grid
• ·         Analysis of the wind farms potential capability and estimated yield
• ·         Negotiating technical requirements
• ·         Prepare precise documentation for process procedures associated with construction. 
• ·         Heading grid code compliance
• ·         Coordination of initial grid connection
• ·         Support grid engineers

Education:-

• ·         Must have strong engineering background (degree in the area of electrical engineering preferred )

Core Requirements:-

• ·         Must have previous Grid Interconnections Experience on wind farms
• ·         Electrical and Technical background
• ·         Familiarity with construction and civil codes
• ·         Demonstrated experience leading site design activities
• ·         Good understanding  on the distribution and transmission  networks in the UK and Ireland

• ·         Proven ability to communicate across all levels of an organization
• ·         Ability to review technical grid documents
• ·         Identify and communicate risks to the projects team
