Amory Lovins is co-founder and chief scientist of RMI. He is among the world's leading experts and innovators in the interlinked fields of energy, resources, environment, development, and security. He works chiefly with senior business, government, military and other thought leaders, both in the US and worldwide.

This fellowship presents a unique opportunity to combine a variety of substantive and experiential activities and challenges while working directly with Amory. The work will require the Fellow to understand the substance of Amory's diverse activities and the mission of the Institute and play an important role in moving this work forward.

The Fellow will participate as a team member in research and consulting projects being conducted at RMI, especially (but not exclusively) projects run by the VP of the Office of the Chief Scientist.

In addition the Fellow will

  • Conduct special research projects for Amory
  • Manage Amory's public email communication
  • Manage incoming queries from outside parties
  • Host and facilitate meetings for strategically important guests and partners
  • Travel with Amory when needed to provide logistical and substantive support.
  • Assist Amory during innovation workshops with clients.
  • Assist with follow-up work and contacts resulting from Amory's outside engagements.

Qualifications include exceptional written and oral communications skills, analytical abilities, experience in team-based work, and demonstrated passion for RMI's mission. Management, economics, environmental policy, and law backgrounds are welcome as long as the candidate also has an extremely strong analytical / quantitative background. The most successful candidate will be able to work equally well with "soft" and "hard" information and analysis, and to combine qualitative and quantitative data into compelling documents, presentations and conclusions. Language skills, travel experience, and diverse interests are a plus.

This fellowship is for a nine or twelve month appointment with the possibility of extension or evolution into another position within RMI. Compensation is a stipend of $2,000 per month, housing, and participation in RMI's benefits plan. The position is located at the RMI facility in Old Snowmass, Colorado.
