The Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for strategic sourcing and recruiting top talent to build active and passive candidate pipelines for the Opower recruiting team. Sourcer will perform both 'primary' and 'secondary' sourcing techniques to identify candidates as well as the candidate profiling to further pre-screen candidates. This includes telephone sourcing, internet sourcing, research and candidate profiling.
Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Sourcing Specialist will proactively identify people who are either a) not actively looking for job opportunities (passive candidates) or b) candidates who are actively searching for job opportunities (active candidates) through direct or indirect marketing.
  • Using Boolean operators on major search engine sites to identify potential candidates who might meet the criteria of the position to be filled based on targeted keywords.
  • Searching for candidates in job boards using keywords related to the position requirements and utilizing Opower’s own recruitment database.
  • Network with individuals to uncover candidates. This includes the use of social networking tools and sites such as LinkedIn.
  • "Phone sourcing" or cold calling into companies that might contain individuals that match the key requirements of the position that needs to be filled.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Partner with the recruiting team on urgency of hiring needs to establish search priorities.
  • Maintain familiarity with each Division's recruitment job descriptions and goals.
  • Focus on sourcing passive and active candidates through extensive warm (from name generation research) and cold calling, networking, relationship building, complex internet searches, existing talent pool database scrubbing, and research.
  • Able to phone screen candidates for availability, interest level, hard skills, salary range, and basic qualifications.
  • Supply recruiting team with sufficient sourced profiles and/or names.
  • Able to develop and track metrics of all sourcing activities.
  • Document details of all correspondence in the applicant tracking system while ensuring notes are made immediately and thoroughly.
  • Display a professional and respectful demeanor while representing the company regardless of time or location.
  • Responsible for job postings and other recruitment marketing initiatives.


Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university required. Sales, recruiting or research experience a plus.
  • Passion for or strong interest in sourcing and/or talent acquisition.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, primarily Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of applicant tracking systems a plus.
  • Must be Internet savvy and familiar with Push and Pull activities.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks while maintaining organization.
