Solar PV(photovoltaic) Research and Development (R&D) Chief Scientist, East Coast, USA

My client is a global manufacturer and developer of high efficiency photovoltaic (PV) cells using crystalline silicon. They are currently looking for a solar PV research and development scientist to work out of their office on the East Coast of America.

This is an exceptional opportunity to take a pioneering position within an already established global organisation who are looking to be market leaders in the field of solar PV cell efficiency, They are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to be actively involved in the development and advancement of their technology and who is passionate about the advancement of such technology.

Responsibilities:

• Use progressive manufacturing photovoltaic processes to advance the efficiency of products
• Work extensively on the development of crystalline silicon solar cells.
• Apply scientific knowledge to innovate and apply advanced concepts such as surface passivation by heterojunctions
• Draw reliable conclusions from project data.
• Work as part of an internal team and at times collaborate with external solar organisations.
• Design and optimise crystalline silicon solar cell structures using PC1D
• Deal directly with hydrofluoric acid and phosphorus oxychloride
• Would be reporting to the Vice President of research and development (r&d) regularly
• Execute standard fabrication processes such as wafer cleaning and texturing

Requirements:

• A successful candidate will be educated to MSc or PhD level in materials science, chemical engineering or physics.
• Have practical, hands on experience in solar n-type silicon or p-type silicon and the doping processes involved
• Must have extensive knowledge in handling hazardous gasses such as ammonia and silane
• Have extensive experience using software such as PC1D
• Will have an understanding of the physics of operation of photovoltaic silicon solar cells and a working knowledge of the technology used to produce them
• Be willing to work out of the East Coast of America
• Be relied upon to  work as part of a team and take the lead when necessary
