My client is a leading solar developer providing photovoltaic (PV) solutions for its residential, commercial, government, utility and non-profit clients globally. They are looking to recruit a vice president of project development to oversee the origination through to delivery of utility scale projects.
Responsibilities:
- Head up the project development team responsible for the origination, development and sales of large utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects up to financial close
- Identify, assess and create project development opportunities
- Will be conducting market analysis and feasibility and risk assessment studies on a daily basis
- Negotiation and acquisition of lease agreements and securing grid connections and building permits
- Proactively sourcing new investors and projects to grow the business
- Will be managing multiple projects simultaneously to strict deadlines and to above satisfactory standards.
- Assessing profitability of projects and successful development including the preparation of land for construction
- Identification of project sites, land procurement, licensing
- Feasibility studies (site qualification, etc.)
- Project negotiations (with diverse project partners like local developers, IPPs or utilities)
- Project financing
- Planning and implementation of market entries
- Develop and set up international strategic partnerships with utilities, project developers, IPPs
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years experience (with a minimum 2-3 years experience, with a proven track record in the development of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects)
- Strong leadership qualities
- Excellent commercial experience
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Project and time management skills
- Must have repeated success negotiating PPAs with utilities
- Needs to understand permitting, site acquisition, interconnection, project management, deal negotiation, financial modeling of renewable deals etc.
- Must have strong educational background (MBA/MSc would be desirable)
