Solar PV Technical Designer, South of England

My client is a solar PV installation company specialising in commercial and domestic installations throughout the UK. The client is currently the exclusive distributor for one of the world’s largest solar companies which in turn has a large market share for the production of solar cells/modules. Working together with this world leader, the client is in a strong strategic position and is currently expanding with other interesting businesses. Alongside this they also have a CHP development unit. They focus on both ground and roof based solar PV systems and work with a range of sizes from small residential through to medium-sized commercial.

Due to the introduction of the UK feed-in tariff, the company and the company’s strategic vision, the client is growing rapidly and is therefore seeking a solar PV expert to take responsibility for beginning to end design and installation of solar PV systems throughout the UK. The candidate must have significant experience dealing with design and installation of power systems and  significant part of this experience must be in photovoltaic solar. We can only accept applications from candidates who have solar PV experience as this is a must and our client will not consider applicants without this experience.

Roles include:

• Design of electrical systems for solar PV installations in a range of sizes (ground based or roof based), all commercial projects
• Developing PV projects from beginning to end including selection of modules etc.
• Visiting  solar PV sites, assessing capacity, foreseeing and addressing potential hurdles in relation to electrical engineering within the context of building the solar PV installation
• Explaining technical designs to clients where necessary
• Working closely with management and other photovoltaic systems designers to ensure installations are designed, built and delivered to spec

Skills and qualifications needed:

• Experience of testing and design of solar PV systems above 500kw
• Management experience in electrical or mechanical engineering solar PV context
• Passionate about the photovoltaic industry with an innovative mind
• Client facing skills – able to explain complicated electrical systems in client friendly language
• High level of responsibility in Solar PV Design
• The ability to work in the UK legally (work permits etc)
