My client is a leading solar photovoltaic systems provider throughout North America and have planned to become the largest supplier of solar PV systems to residential and commercial clients in Canada. Working in conjunction with the Ontario FIT (Feed-In Tariff) system they are looking for someone to sell both roof based and ground based photovoltaic systems to clients across Ontario.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Working with the Vice President of Business Development and Strategy to determine the ideal revenue targets across quarterly and annual periods. Assisting in the writing of growth reports for the board of directors
- Determining target markets and clients by region and social demographics
- Targeting specific commercial organizations and ensuring that the company stays ahead of their competition in the market
- Providing the highest level of service possible to clients in order to generate referrals and repeat business
- Generating sales leads and travelling widely to follow these up and pitch to clients
- Explaining the Ontario FIT to clients and explaining the benefits of solar power – environmental and financial
Skills and qualifications:
- My client is looking for an experienced salesperson and therefore need to hire someone with at least 5 years’ sales experience selling technical products to a similar client base to the above mentioned. This is a solar sales role and therefore the successful candidate must have at least 1 year of solar PV sales experience as part of the minimum requirement on top of the 5 years’ overall sales experience.
- Detailed understanding of the Ontario FIT system and general knowledge of methods of financing small, medium and large scale solar PV projects for residential and commercial clients
- Proven track record in closing deals and generating repeat and referred business
- Creative, entrepreneurial approach, willing to travel frequently, team player
- Education – should be at least degree level and ideally a background in electrical engineering on top of the sales experience would be advantageous
