Solar PV design engineer, Southampton, UK

My client is an established engineering consultancy based in the UK. They are developing their business expansion in the photovoltaic solar market in Europe and see strong potential for growth in this area.

As a result they are looking for people with strong previous experience in solar PV, to take up several new vacancies for designing large scale solar photovoltaic projects across Europe. In particular they are looking for a design engineer with excellent leadership skills and experience of designing bespoke renewable energy projects for key clients.

Responsibilities of the role will include:

• Design of solar PV (photovoltaic) systems for ground based and large roof based commercial projects on behalf of commercial clients
• Ensuring all designs are within budgetary and regulatory requirements
• Explaining any design idiosyncrasies to installation and sales colleagues
• Discussing requirements with clients and attending occasional sales meetings as the technical point of contact

Skills and qualifications needed:

• Bachelor or masters level degree in electrical engineering
• Good knowledge and understanding of the UK solar PV market and feed-in tariffs
• Extensive experience directly designing solar photovoltaic systems for commercial and residential clients
• Relevant work permits/visas held for working in the UK
• Full, clean driving license
• Strong client facing skills, significant experience explaining solar PV to clients
• Any European languages would be helpful as well as complete fluency in English being essential
