Description: The Solar Power Engineer will be responsible for technical evaluation and due diligence for new opportunities and eventual designing utility scale solar power plant systems. This individual will provide conceptual and detailed designs of solar power plants and support development, engineering and construction of PV, CPV and CSP solar projects.

The position is responsible for identifying the most appropriate technical and material solutions or other variables to optimize the system proposals. Deliverables such as equipment specifications, concept design drawings, site evaluations, interconnection and single line electrical and process flow diagrams

Responsibilities:

1. Research and evaluate a project site's solar potential.
2. Evaluate and deploy irradiance instruments at project sites.
3. Contribute technical input to solar technology selection.
4. Perform due diligence and feasibility studies for project development.
5. Perform energy yield calculations using tools such as PVSYST, NREL System Advisor Model (SAM), and METEONORM.
6. Perform risk and economic analysis.
7. Develop uncertainty analysis for energy yield.
8. Prepare technical specifications for solar plant components and subsystems.
9. Prepare technical scopes of work to support construction subcontracts and RFPs.
10. Work with electrical and civil engineers.
11. Assist legal with negotiations for contract agreements with customers and suppliers.
12. Provide support to construction during the commissioning phase.
13. Establish standard procedures, calibrations and field placements for solar measurement instrumentation.
14. Ensure quality control and develop methods to correlate onsite measurements with reference data.

Requirements:

1. Five years experience in power generation industry (solar experience preferred).
2. Must be able to work professionally with clients, vendors, other employees and managers.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to organize and prioritize work.
5. Ability to travel approximately 10 percent.
6. Proficiency in MS Office and MS Outlook.

Education:

BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with a MS degree preferred.
