This is an exciting chance to join the University of Plymouth, Marine Institute.  You will be part of an interdisciplinary group that delivers world class Marine Conservation research and have the opportunity to live in a progressive maritime city in the south west of the United Kingdom, in close proximity to National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Coastal Paths and within the UK’s first National Marine Park.

We are seeking a talented individual with expertise in social science research methods to join the ‘Green minds’ project at the University of Plymouth.  With close ties to the University of Plymouth’s Marine Institute and Arts Institute you will be able to bridge the gap between the research centres.  You will lead on research to establish social values linked to Plymouth City’s Green and Blue environment and infrastructure.  The research will further understanding of the pathways between the natural environment and the benefits that influence human wellbeing to ultimately enable mainstreaming of the quality of the natural environment into city wide policies and practice.

You will have:

  • An MSc/PhD that has included the development of social science research methods.
  • Knowledge of social-ecological systems research and a developing track-record of relevant published research.
  • Experience of project management.
  • A track-record of successful engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Experience of designing focus groups and the facilitation of workshops.

This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week on a fixed-term basis until June 2022 due to funding.  We will also consider candidates who wish to work part time hours.
