Supervisor: Vice President, Operations

Description: : The Site Operations Manager will supervise and manage the day to day running of the Cedar Wind Farm, located near Limon, CO, USA.

Duration: Two year temporary position with salary and benefits.

Responsibilities:

1. Support the Asset Manager in achieving the strategic plans and objectives relating to the generation assets of the Cedar Point Wind Farm.
2. Management of the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of the generation assets, in accordance with agreed operating plans and budgets.
3. Ongoing investigation and analysis of asset performance, identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and maximize generation.
4. Produce routine O&M reports.
5. Review of invoices and advising the Asset Manager of short to medium term forecasted costs and changes in spend against budget.
6. Management of operational aspects of power purchase agreements.
7. On-site safety, security and environmental management and compliance.
8. Lead and attend regular weekly site safety meetings.
9. Report regular and on time safety and environmental issues to head office.
10. Completion of site audits and inspections for safety and operation.
11. Completion of annual sub-contractor safety audits.
12. Management of on-site subcontracts.
13. Advance planning and control of site activities, Controlled Works and visits.
14. Daily monitoring and analysis of the performance of the site.
15. Liaison with construction teams during final phases of construction to takeover and ensure close out of any outstanding construction issues during subsequent operation.
16. On call on a 24/7 basis to occasionally respond to urgent operational issues.
17. Supervise timely park restarts after plant outages / trips.
18. Liaison with XCEL and PSCo as required.
19. Liaison with maintenance contractors to ensure their safe and timely intervention to attend to observed faults and trips.
20. Oversee work on site by contractors, including turbine maintenance, crane activities, Electrical HV and civil works.
21. Schedule and co-ordination of non-routine plant maintenance and upgrades.
22. Liaison with client, landowner, community, local authority and other stakeholders.
23. Attend regular meetings with turbine and HV contractors to discuss all O&M issues.
24. Co-ordination of scheduled and unscheduled grid outages.
25. Advance planning and control of site activities, Controlled Works and visits.
26. Manage tracking of: failures, alarms, downtime, maintenance and repairs, plant status and trends, and HSQE issues.
27. Assist with upkeep of databases of faults and maintenance/performance issues.
28. Alert the Asset Manager and Turbine Engineer of emerging faults and issues and maintenance or retrofits required.
29. Liaison with OEMs and engineering teams in respect of Defect Notifications and non-warranty investigations.
30. Regular review, statistical analysis and evaluation of asset performance/status.
31. Document the investigation of plant failures and shortfalls.
32. Identify and appraise plant improvement opportunities.
33. Alert the Asset Manager and Turbine Engineer of emerging faults and issues and maintenance or retrofits required.
34. Any other tasks as directed by the vice president of operations.

Requirements:

1. Minimum two to five years of proven industrial experience including the management of O&M contractors. Wind farm OR Utility / Energy OR mechanical.
2. High Voltage training and previous switching experience desirable.
3. Expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the public and landowners and will be instrumental in ensuring on time O&M and cost effective running of the plant.
4. Minimum five years of Management experience.
5. Ability to travel.
6. Current and valid driver license and passport.
7. Skilled in MSOffice, Outlook, Excel and Access / database.
8. Self motivated and has the ability to climb wind turbine towers.

Education: BS or degree level education in electrical mechanical engineering or other appropriate technical field.
