My client is one of the leading solar photovoltaic (PV) manufacturers globally and over a number of years built up a strong track record in the manufacturering of both crystalline and thin-film solar PV cells and modules. They are looking to recuit two senior scientists to work on the R&D of higher efficiecny cells.
Responsibilities:-
- Research into crystalline silicon solar cells
- Process integration for fabricating solar cells
- Exploring options for single crystalline thin-film solar cells including silicon-on-insulator wafers and related layer transfer techniques.
- Fabrication of thin film solar cells from evaporated silicon.
- Implemented surface texturing
- Incorporate low temperature PECVD surface passivation with emitter formation on textured substrates
- Leading a team of engineers to process and characterise solar cells.
- Setting up solar cell fabrication lab and characterisation facilities.
- Device design and process development for new photovoltaic devices and architectures.
- You will need to analyse the process on a regular basis and suggest improvements to streamline the production
- Involved in engineering projects, i.e: new line startup activity, cost reduction, second source material qualification and development projects
- Periodic review of work procedures and processes and update the operators work instructions whenever required as a continuous improvement measure.
- To carry out necessary design of experiments to optimize process parameters to improve product quality.
- Provide multi level engineering support for any process issue.
- Responsible for improving solar cell efficiencies and enhancing yield and reliability through process development and optimization
Requirements:-
- You will need PHD (Mechanical, Chemical, Electronic or Photovoltaic Engineering)
- At least 5-10 years work experience, with a proven track record in solar cell R&D
- Specific, proven experience of silicon wafers and manufacturing processes
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to translate strategic priorities into operational direction, demonstrating strong decision making skills
- Proven ability to successfully implement and execute programmes and drive high performance
- The achievement of results through effective delegation
- Ability to promote and provide a strong customer focused service
