My client structures transactions and provides brokerage and merchant banking services for the global green markets and the clean energy sector. They are market leaders in developing innovative and cost effective strategies in this space.
Core Criteria:
My client is seeking an experienced renewable energy broker. They will be focused primarily on the western renewable energy markets (RECs), and will also support western US emerging markets as appropriate.
Responsibilities:-
- Execute trades in various REC market instruments, covering both the compliance and voluntary markets
- · Counsel clients on REC market access strategies, including trade execution and risk management approaches to state and regional trading schemes
- · Build and maintain a client base of financial, energy and environmental customers including producers, end-users, manufacturers, marketers, banks, utilities and funds
- Follow legislative and regulatory developments, providing analysis and articulation of those developments to clients in order to ultimately generate further revenue opportunities
Education:-
- Must have strong educational background
Core Requirements:-
- The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of energy or environmental commodities markets and how they are brokered, including 5-10 years demonstrated success in two or more of the following areas:
- Commodities brokerage (futures, power, carbon, emissions or RECs)
- Energy/environmental/derivative marketing
- Institutional brokerage
- Sales or trading, e.g. with hedge funds or as part of a bank sales and trading team
- Demonstrated success cultivating customer relationships and excelling in a customer interface role
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, and be a self-starter even in the midst of uncertainty
- Balance of forward-thinking and critical-thinking skills, coupled with ‘street smarts’ and a keen desire to innovate and excel
General Requirements:-
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly with complex and changing information
- · Proven ability to communicate across all levels of an organization
- Sound judgment in assessing market conditions and counseling clients on market execution strategies
- · Ability to manage multiple projects
- Good time management skills and multi-tasking skills
