Description

My client is amongst  the leading renewable energy providers globally, and have a very strong business plan and balance sheet. They a specialize in the manufacturing of crystalline silicon modules and are also a leading residential, commercial and utility-scale solar PV developer with a strong market presence in Europe, USA and the Asia-Pacific regions. They are looking to recruit a Senior PV Material Scientist. The Senior PV Material Scientist will be responsible for  Identifiying new materials for solar module applications using project management systems. Proficient in optical and material characteristics of polymers, glasses and metals. The Senior PV Material Scientist must be capable of understanding finite element analysis of structural components. The Senior PV Material Scientist will understand life cycle implications of materials including advanced aging mechanisms. The Senior PV Material Scientist be able to produce business cases and economic justification projects including LCOE calculations


Core Criteria:
The Senior PV Material Scientist will develop new module materials for my client. The focus of this role look at reducing module losses including electrical, optical, and thermal losses.

 

Responsibilities:-

 

  • ·         Develop new module materials
  • ·         Research and develop new materials which will reduce product costs and improve energy output of the module
  • ·         Responsible for looking at ways to reduce module losses including electrical, optical, and thermal losses
  • ·         Inovative in the application of these new materials for use in residential, large commercial project and utility markets
  • ·         Coordinate with Lab and production personnel as needed for processing of samples for tests and trial runs
  • ·         Set up test apparatus, including measuring and recording devices
  • ·         Conduct experiments to obtain required data. Maintain complete and accurate records pertaining to experiments, and present data in a graphical, tabular or written form as required.
  • ·         Analyze data to check accuracy, ensure validity, and interpret results
  • ·         Use this data for predictive analysis and also perform failure mode effect analysis (FMEA) to help determine potential break down mechanisms
  • ·         Generate all documentation for new designs including MoC such as EPA and ECO. NPA (New Product Authorization) project management protocol to initiate and justify design spend

 

Education:-

  • ·         M.S or PhD degree in science or engineering with materials emphasis preferred. A mechanical background will also be useful including thermal and loading characteristics for materials. Knowledge of optical and electrical properties would be advantageous too

 

Core Requirements:-

  • ·         You will have at least 3-5 years related experience in the solar PV industry
  • ·         Have a good general knowledge of MS Office package programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • ·         Ability to plan and carry out experiments, including assembly of special purpose test equipment (FTIR, DSC, bulk and surface analysis, etc) as needed
  • ·         Proficient at creating and manipulating engineering drawings.
  • ·         Must be able to work and liaise with Universities and 3rd characterization labs.
  • ·         Knowledge of materials properties and their interaction with metals and semiconductor devices is important. This should include degradation mechanisms and end of life behaviors. Ability to determine degradation rates of module materials.
  • ·         Must be able to create business cases.

Key Skills:

Solar PV, materials engineering, mechanical background will also be useful including thermal and loading characteristics for materials, ability to indentifying module losses including electrical, optical, and thermal losses.
