Senior Researcher

Reports to: Director of Policy and Research

No. of reports: 0

Location: London

Salary: Between £35,000-£46,570, plus benefits package.

Contract: 12-month fixed term contract, with potential for an extension.

As the leading trade association for decentralised energy, the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) is setting the vision of a local, efficient, low carbon energy system which enables energy users to make the choices which work for them. About the role

The ADE is recruiting for a Senior Researcher.

You will be responsible for leading the team’s work to respond to and generate opportunities to deliver exciting, creative new research into decentralised energy.

Person specification

Essential:

  • Excellent academic qualifications or substantial work experience in the field;
  • Significant experience of research delivery, including project management and experience of handling external contractors;
  • A proven track record in thought leadership and business development activities, including the development of project methodologies and associated budgets for responding to invitations to tender, applying for grant funding and development of sponsorship proposals, and networking skills;
  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills and ability to communicate to a wide variety of audiences; and
  • Ability to work well, and independently, in a small team environment.
  • Existing network across academia, research consultancies and if possible, the energy industry;
  • Excellent numerical skills, including descriptive statistics and an aptitude for modelling with above-average computer skills, e.g. programming (such as advanced Excel or ‘R’);
  • Knowledge of energy policy;
  • Financial expertise, including experience managing team budgets
