The Sustainable Transport Unit (located in Ispra, Italy) is a recent addition to the JRC’s Institute for Energy and provides scientific support for the development, implementation and monitoring of European policies in the area of Transport. Emphasis is given to the assessment of transport technologies for all modes of transport. The Unit, with a total of about 45 staff, is subdivided into the 2 Actions among which the “Clean and Efficient Vehicles” CLEEVE provides support to the assessment of innovative technologies to reduce CO2 emissions from transport with focus on road transport, but increasing emphasis on other modes as well.
A position for a dynamic individual to perform research and policy support activities in the area of Transport Technologies and CO2 emissions reduction. The tasks involved will include providing scientific support to the further development of the Commission’s policy on CO2 from cars, trucks and non-road machinery. He/she will be called to provide scientific support to the assessment of eco-innovations for cars and to the review of the regulation on CO2 from cars.
The ideal candidate is a senior scientist and should have a minimum of 10 years research experience at post-doctoral level or a minimum of 15 years research experience after the university degree giving access to doctoral studies. The ideal candidate should have proven expertise in one or more of the following fields: assessment of innovative vehicle technologies; vehicle CO2 reduction strategies and theis potentials; policies in the field of transport CO2 emissions; non-road and leisure crafts CO2 emissions.
The successful applicant is expected to be creative, be able to work independently, and to have very good oral and written communication skills in English. Having a good record on scientific publications in peer reviewed journals is an asset.
