The River Restoration Centre is the UK's focal point for promoting the restoration of rivers and floodplains and is committed to providing information and advice to enable practitioners and others to benefit from, and contribute to, the developing expertise in river restoration.

RRC employs 6 core members of staff at our Cranfield office. The new appointee will be required to contribute to the project advice work of the Centre.

Main duties will include: site visits, advice and scoping reports on river restoration/habitat enhancement potential; guiding technical site visits; delivering teaching, training, conferences and workshops; addressing technical enquiries; and externally promoting RRC and its work.

The person appointed will have either an appropriate first degree (i.e. Geography, Environmental Science, or similar) and significant relevant river management related work experience, or a post-graduate qualification in an appropriate technical or scientific subject (such as ecohydrology, geomorphology, hydraulic engineering, river engineering or similar) and a number of years relevant river management related work experience.

The applicant will: demonstrate clear understanding of river processes, historic management and restoration principles and application; prove their ability to report technical information to varied audiences; show working to deadlines within tight budgets on multiple activities; and have excellent skills in written and oral communication, organisation, time management and a range of IT skills.

The position will be full-time with a starting salary ranging between £28,633 and £29,420 per annum, and will require significant travel to locations anywhere within the UK.
