Who are we?
s.Pro sustainable-projects is a small consultancy (15 in-house consultants) specialized in the coordination of transnational cooperation projects, mostly funded by the European Commission (Horizon; Interreg), but also other public donors. Our topical focus lies in projects dealing with the sustainable use of the sea. Among others we run the permanent secretariat of the SUBMARINER Network for the Promotion of Blue Growth as well as the EU4Algae stakeholder forum initiative. SUBMARINER is a flagship initiative within the EU Baltic Sea Strategy, bringing together a variety of public and private stakeholders, all engaged in the innovative and sustainable use of marine resources.
The themes of our 'blue' projects span from maritime spatial planning and management of marine protection areas; sustainable aquaculture; algae – and algae based products; reduction of marine pollution and combined use of offshore installations. Project activities range from promoting start-ups; initiation of company cooperations; pilot measures and demonstration plants; knowledge transfer; strategy advice and policy development; participation processes through to public relations.
All projects have a term of three to four years and bring together between eight and 25 partners from research, industry, business development, NGOs and administration from all European countries.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a new staff member for our Berlin office to expand and complement our team of Project Managers to coordinate our new series of long-term projects, particularly in the area of ??'Business Support'. Our ideal candidate has already relevant experience in the management of European projects, or in the promotion of innovation and technology transfer for companies. You have an original interest in promoting sustainability processes or climate protection and are looking for a long-term position with considerable development potential.
What are your responsibilities?
- Overall strategic steering and administrative coordination of the project; its activities and deliverables. Coordination of project partners, advisory boards and stakeholders.
- Financial and administrative control of the projects; Writing or reviewing all project reports; as well as coordination with the client
- Design, organization, moderation and documentation of all forms of internal and external project meetings and events (in-person & online); e.g. by bringing in external speakers, engaging of the advisory boards, organizing the outreach
- Addressing and involving external stakeholders (companies, administration, research, funding institutions, investors) for example through newsletters, workshops/hackathons/boot camps/webinars; mentoring programs; permanent working groups; training; study tours; conferences
- Presentation of the projects at external events, networking and promotion
- Curation of new project/tender opportunities and development of project applications or offers in cooperation with the in-house team and/or other project partners
- Submission of content for external project communication (PPTs, website, social media, story telling, etc.)
- If necessary, preparation of independent studies / commercialization roadmaps / working papers on new business and financing models for sustainable operation of companies or municipalities
- In connection with all of the above tasks, continuous communication and cooperation with our project partners from research, business and administration
What do we wish from you?
- A university degree; ideally in a business-related theme and at least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Experience in applying for and coordinating European funded projects and
- Solid experience in the field of business promotion (e.g. start-ups; looking for investors or partners; business trips; business plans) or the development of new business and financing models
- Experience in designing, organizing, facilitating and documenting project meetings or other forms of workshops; match making events; Webinars, etc. (both online and in-person)
- Knowledge of managing multi-year, complex project budgets
- Understanding of international political processes and institutions; especially in the area of ??sustainability and climate and environmental protection.
- Excellent English language skills are a prerequisite; good knowledge of German or one/several European languages ??is an advantage;
- Proven written communication (reports, studies) and presentation skills
- Very good knowledge of MS Office / Teams; Experience with moderation techniques and collaboration tools (e.g. Metaplan, Miro, Murals, sli.do) as well as project coordination and management tools (KANBAN, SCRUM, etc.)
