Description

The Zoological Society of London is now hiring for a new position of Senior Programme Manager (EDGE and Conservation Technology).

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for two of ZSL’s most innovative conservation programmes, Edge of Existence and Conservation Technology. The EDGE of Existence programme (www.edgeofexistence.org) works to raise awareness, invest in a new generation of conservation leaders and initiate targeted conservation action to secure the future of at least 100 EDGE species over the next five years. The post holder’s primary responsibilities will be to develop the EDGE programme and funding to achieve its five year strategic plan, and continue to drive the innovative nature of the EDGE programme. In addition, the post holder will provide strategic direction and an identity for ZSL’s existing conservation technology projects e.g. Instant Wild, develop this new programme and maximise funding opportunities in this area.

 

The post holder must have a strong track record in project development and management, communication and fundraising. We anticipate the successful candidate will have a background in science and/or technology, a strong interest in conservation and an innovative approach to project development. They must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable and articulate in presenting to a broad range of stakeholders. Experience in being an effective manager and team player is also essential.

 

This is initally a 2 year contract position with the potential for extension. The successful applicant will be part of ZSL’s Global Conservation Programmes team and will be based at the Zoological Society of London offices in Regent’s Park, with some potential for national and international travel. 

 

The salary range is £35,000 - £38,000 p.a. depending on experience. The position is to start as soon as possible. A brief job description is available from www.zsl.org/jobs
