Good Growth Good Growth is responsible for delivering and implementing the Mayor’s environment, transport and economic strategies and for the effective implementation of the London Plan. The Directorate is also responsible for regeneration (where the programme is not housing led), enterprise, growth, capital projects and design work. About the team This is an exciting opportunity to join the Climate Change Mitigation team at a time when the need to both mitigate and adapt to climate change has never been greater. The Mayor has set a target for London to be Net Zero Carbon by 2030 and the Climate Change Mitigation team is working across a range of policies and programmes to deliver a just transition that will reduce emissions and meet that 2030 target. The Climate Change Mitigation team leads on developing climate change policy and strategy to support the Mayor’s goals of making London net zero carbon by 2030, including in the London Environment Strategy and London Plan, and contributing to economic growth through his Green New Deal. The team develops new and innovative delivery mechanisms to accelerate the scale and pace of decarbonisation, while meeting the needs of Londoners and adapting to climate change. It works collaboratively with partners across London, nationally and globally to embed and support action on climate. It also monitors and reports progress against climate related targets and uses this to inform the city’s strategy on climate action. About the role We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced senior policy officer to support the Climate Change Mitigation team across its range of work programmes. Specifically they will support the team’s work on embedding climate considerations in decision making within the GLA Group. They will co-ordinate our climate literacy training course which is designed to equip all staff across the GLA with the skills they need to confidently build climate action into their projects.
