KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Media Related - Develop and implement media/PR strategies for Greenpeace campaigns
- Proactively input and steer developing stories on Greenpeace campaigns
- Routinely gather media & market intelligence and feed into communication plans of the campaigns
- Liaise with Greenpeace international offices and identify opportunities for promotion of relevant media stories within India
- Explore and develop opportunities for increasing organisational visibility in the media
- Build and maintain a sound general knowledge of all Greenpeace campaigns and issues, to respond to media inquiries
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant journalists and commentators.
- Build and maintain an active database of stakeholders
- Write and initiate press releases and information for the media
- Collaborate with the communications team to prepare advisory statements, background briefings, reports, Q&A sheets and press packs
- Commission and ensure the adequate briefing of communications contractors including photographers and videographers
Administrative - Produce regular internal reports
- Ensure the interest of Greenpeace on content and copyright is upheld
- Ensure consistency of messaging and adherence to brand protocols
- Ensure all external media activities are documented and tagged for Greenpeace archives
Other responsibilities: - Participate in the wider discussion of the Communications & Campaigns team on the overall communications strategy
- Undertake any other duties, appropriate to the position, as delegated by the Program Director
Travel 10-15% of your time maybe spent in travelling Skills/qualifications required Essential: - At least 5-7 years experience of which 3 years in a public relations role
- Domiciled in New Delhi for at least the last 3 years
- Ability to work and think in Hindi -developing media kits in Hindi and writing press releases in Hindi etc.
- A degree in mass communication/journalism with a fluency in written & spoken English and Hindi
- A strong understanding of how the media works and a strong news sense
- Demonstrable experience in executing media plans for projects or campaigns
- A strong network of contacts with the local & national media at a senior management level
Desirable: - In-depth knowledge of national/international trends, political-economic issues, and conditions and developments relevant to Greenpeace campaigns
- Understanding of media planning and media analysis techniques
- Experience in managing print and/or audio-visual production processes
- Experience with building marketing and editorial alliances with the media(print, television, online & radio)
- Prove knowledge of media operations and media contacts nationally
- Demonstrable ability to think strategically and creatively on a micro and macro level

- Willingness to work across a variety of issues, under pressure of deadlines and changing priorities and to work unsocial hours as necessary
- Excellent interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships internally and externally
- Ability to keep calm and work effectively under pressure
