Summary
The Senior Manager, Demand Planning will “own” the demand forecast. He/she will lead a planning process to deliver a robust operational demand forecast which will guide the manufacturing and procurement activities for SunPower. The Senior Manager will be responsible for tracking progress toward monthly volume commitments, providing visibility to executive management on short-term and long-term sales outlook. This position reports to the Senior Director, Global Planning.
This role would suit a self-motivated, results-oriented individual who is comfortable in a fast paced environment and has experience in working effectively with and providing world-class service to internal Business Unit (BU) customers. To succeed in this role, the candidate must possess analytical skills, strong written and verbal communication, the ability to visualize, define and implement a prioritized process roadmap to meet business needs and a focus on service excellence. The ability to recruit, hire and motivate a team to carry out this mission is also key.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Drive a best-in-class Demand Planning process collaborating cross-functionally with Global/BU Sales Operations, S&OP, Supply Planning, Finance, Projects Execution, and Customer Operations balancing operational excellence and innovations enablement
• Stewardship of SunPower’s forecasting system to ensure robust data quality and sufficient system functionality to meet business requirements
• Lead a weekly/monthly/quarterly cadence of demand planning activities for all BUs orchestrating:
o Forecast input, data assessment and validation
o Analysis and aggregation of demand changes and development of new BU/Global forecasts
o Sales statistical forecasting and forward-looking projections
o Product family (PV, Inverter and BOS) forecast, trend and market analysis
o Collaborative planning with BUs/Key customers
• Colaborate on revenue planning & attainment through:
o Cost / margin optimization
o Market Share and TAM analysis
o What-if / scenario planning and decision-making
o Inventory-Delivery-Margin trade offs
o Demand sensing & shaping thru pricing / bundling initiatives
o Key customer impact & mitigation strategies
o Financial what-if calculator
• Implement and manage an end-to-end Demand Pull methodology across BUs, manufacturing operations and supply base.
• Develop and implement Kanban safety stock levels across BUs for PV, Inverters and BOS.
• Develop and implement metrics to measure:
o Forecast accuracy/proclivity of demand changes
o Inventory - fill rate and weeks of supply
o Delivery performance - On-time to request / original commit / current commit; Lead time attainment
• Partner with Global Process Excellence and IT leads for demand planning processes & tools development, rollout and implementation.
• Hire, train and develop employees on the Demand Planning team.
Necessary Skills and Functional Experience
• Excellent analytical and business process skills in the areas of forecasting and supply chain. Experience in implementing business-wide processes.
• Knowledge of ERP planning software required.
• Experience in Oracle and Advanced Planning tools a plus.
General Experience & Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain or related fields with emphasis on mathematics or statistics. MBA is a plus.
• 10+ years experience as a Planning/Supply Chain/Materials professional with management experience.
• Experience working in a global environment with offshore/outsourced resources across multiple time-zones.
• Strong verbal and written communication / presentation abilities, including facilitation, negotiation, presentation and demonstration.
• Excellent organizational skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proven leadership and influencing abilities from core team up through executive levels.
