Our client is a highly respected multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. Due to an influx in work for the environmental team, they currently seek the services of a Senior Environmental Scientist.

Reporting to the Team Leader of the environmental department, the focus of the work will be in completing environmental assessments for future water infrastructure projects. Due to the variety of industry sectors our client is involved in, the successful candidate will be involved in a range of different environmental projects. Your main responsibilities will be to:

•    Carry out scientific research and investigations as required
•    Conduct EIA’s
•    Prepare assessment reports on behalf of clients
•    Collect and analyse data and field samples and provide summary information on the environmental relevance of the data
•    Prepare submissions to local bodies
•    Act as technical expert at formal hearings
•    Provide technical guidance, support and oversight to environmental programs to support project managers
•    Develop business opportunities by maintaining excellent client relationships
•    Develop and mentor junior staff
•    Travel from time to time as required

In order to considered for the role, essential will be a minimum Bachelor degree in a related science or engineering field and eligibility for membership of the relevant professional institute. In addition, you will need a minimum 4 years’ professional experience in the consulting and engineering industry after graduate education. The ideal candidate will worked on a range of projects that will allow them to:

•    Show a high degree of technical competence
•    Be familiar and competent in business development, including client service and client relationship building
•    Have the skills necessary to manage a program or project, including project tasks, budgets, scope and risk
•    Be capable of defining and setting the direction for a team or project
•    Make quality business decisions based on an ability to identify and solve problems
•    Have a good set of general business skills required for career growth in all positions
