Senior Environment Officer

A large civil engineering company is recruiting a Senior Environment Officer. Reporting to the Environment Manager responsibilities cover its activities with extensive travel. For this senior position within the environment department candidates will be required to demonstrate a high level of technical competence.
Key activities include:
- Development of its environmental performance towards ‘Beyond Zero’
- The early establishment of sound environmental management systems and capability on site
- Development and delivery of formal full and half day training courses and other presentations
- Influencing, establishing and promoting environmental best practice
- Awareness and effective communication of legislative requirements
- Developing procedures, guidance, bulletins and alerts
- Pollution / incident prevention, investigation and root cause analysis
- Data collection / maintenance of a number of data bases
- Regular auditing and inspection of the environmental management system
Candidate Requirements
Candidates must be suitably qualified ideally MIEMA or similar with a thorough understanding of current and forthcoming legislative requirements. A full understanding of the requirements of ISO14001 is required and trained auditor status is desirable.
