The Coastal Conservation League is a nonprofit conservation organization that works with communities, elected officials, businesses, and citizen groups to protect the natural landscapes, abundant wildlife, clean air and water, and quality of life along the South Carolina coast. For over a decade, we have been a leading environmental intervenor in South Carolina Public Service Commission proceedings concerning energy efficiency, renewable energy, and utility planning. We also have helped write and implement the laws that govern these subjects in South Carolina and have led the campaign to stop attempts to federally-impose offshore oil and gas drilling along the South Carolina coast.
The Coastal Conservation League is searching for a full-time Senior Energy Analyst who will be based in our Columbia office. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter and a team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced, social, dynamic work environment and managing diverse projects in an intense high-pressure setting. He/she must demonstrate creative problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and constant attention to detail. This position reports to the Energy and Climate Program Director.
Summary of Duties: The Senior Energy Analyst is responsible for conducting research and analysis relating to electric utility resource planning and ratemaking and policies related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, distributed generation, and promoting a socially just transition to a clean energy economy. The Analyst works with the Energy & Climate Program Director, Conservation League legal counsel, partner organizations, and consultants as applicable to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and decision makers in support of organizational goals.

Work Environment The job normally operates in a professional office environment; the COVID-19 19 crisis may alter normal operations. This role routinely uses technology equipment such as computers, projectors, and conference lines. Additionally, this position works within the community to attend meetings, hearings, lunches, and events.
Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and climb stairs. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Required Education and Experience
At least 10 years’ relevant experience in the energy and climate policy field.
